Tuesday Took-It: "Where We Meet"

Today I'm sharing my photo for Week 3 of the 52 Photos Project. This weeks prompt is:

We lead a rather solitary, private life, just my husband and I and our 3 doggie kids. We are kind of homebodies, because, well, home is where we are the happiest! We have several favorite go-to spots in our home and yard which we always seem to gravitate to, and whenever we have visitors, those same places are where we gather to enjoy one anothers company.
The place I have chosen to share for this prompt is our beautiful back deck, which is through sliding glass door, off our kitchen. It's about 50 feet high up off the ground, 20' x 12' ft. (240 square feet), handbuilt by my husband, and surrounded by tall tall trees.

On misty Spring days, we birdwatch from the deck. In the warmth  of the summer months, we eat most of our meals out there. We held our daughters 21st birthday celebration one sunny July afternoon with a gathering of friends out there. Many bottles of wine have been shared and enjoyed in the late lasting sunlight of summer evenings. During cool fall months, we sit out there snuggled with doggie lap blankets, and sip our morning lattes. And on several winter evenings, we've sat reclined as far back as possible, wrapped in blankets, watching meteor showers. Many days, our doggies spend hours lay sprawled out on the warm deckboards, belly up to catch catch some rays. Almost daily, we toss cashews off the deck, to our squirrel friends Sammy & Susie. And several times a week, both of us will find ourselves just needing to step out onto the deck, gaze at the majestic towering green, breathe in deeply, and say a silent prayer of thanks for the beauty surrounding us, literally just outside our door.

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread,
places to play in and pray in,
where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.

The two Jeff's & Dottie, out on the deck
Last week, my husbands best friend, who lives in our hometown of St. Louis and whom he had not seen for about a year, came to stay with us for a few days.He has been here before and is completely enamoured with Seattle. But he says that his favorite place to go when he visits us is right out there on our deck.

Where is YOUR special place, where you love to "meet"?

Happy Me-Laurie Z!
