Celebrate & Treats!

Happy Halloween everyone!
I have pumpkin cinnamon scones baking for our "breakfast" (more like brunch today since it is almost noon & hubby is still snoozing after 2 late nights-one helping to keep funcitioanlity at his company which is located in the heart of New York & affected by Superstorm Sandy, as well as working on his current ho Our house is located waaaay down a long driveway surrounded by woods on 3 sides, but still, just off a busy 2 lane residential road, which has only sporadic sidewalks, so we don't get ANY trick or treaters coming to our door! As Halloween is my hubby's fave holiday, I always try to plan some surprise special event for us to do in addition to our usual home together celebrating! A few things we have done over the past few years includes a sexy fun spooky themed burlesque show, a clown themed haunted house (long background story/private joke, but let's just say my husband has sworn to "get me back" if he ever finds a spider themed haunted house...!), and this year, I suprprised him with tickets to a live performance of one of his favorite productions-"Rocky Horror Picture Show"! We also always go to one of the many nearby pumpkin farms, always selecting one we have not yet visited, and this year, since we waited until Monday to go, we only had a few to choose from that were still open! We ended up going to Bob's Corn, Pumpkins and maze (or "bob's Country Bunker, as hubby took to calling it as we roamed in circles through the Snohomish Valley, passing many fun-looking pumpkin farms, in search of the elusive Bob's!) Once we finally found the place, we soon saw that it seemed Bob either had about a billion visitors over the weekend which left the farm a bit, shall we say...shabby... OR...(and hubby is leaning towards this theory...!), Bob's is actually a front for a corn fed moonshine biz,  and Bob is just trying to make more cashola during the holiday season but he's passed out in the corn maze... while the cow tied to a fence mooing pitifully hasn't been fed for days! (we almost untied him & took him home, poor baby!) It was definitely a humorus experience and as usual, we had a great time being goofy & cracking jokes about all of the disturbing yet hilarious things we encountered there! We also bought a few pumpkins-a sad, sloping white one, two small orange & white striped ones, and 4 minis-2 white & 2 orange, one of which I plan to cover with gold glitter today! Another seasonal tradition for us is to get a beautiful pumpkin, put it out on our back deck...and then toss the rotted thing over the side into the woods around Valentines day! THIS YEAR, we are COMMITTED to actually CARVING THE DAMN THING! Stay tuned...! Ha ha!

So this week for the 52 Photos Project, Bella asks us to share our CELEBRATE images...

This is one of the alters created for the Día de los Muertos festival,
which is held at Seattle center every year.
I am fascinated and awed by this tradition of honoring, offerings and celebrating departed loved ones.
I dream of someday visiting Mexico to witness this beautiful day for myself.
This alter in this photo was for the five people who were shot and killed last May
 at Seattle coffehouse Cafe Racer.

And for todays Wishcasting Wednesday, Jamie asks us to connect with our inner child and use our imagination to share...
LARGE OR SMALL, ONE OR MANY,
WHAT TREATS DO YOU WISH FOR?
(Oooh, this sounds FUN!)

The treats I wish for are...

* a batch ( or two!) of my mom's AMAAAAZING homemade fudge
(which she has been making since I was about 5 years old...but ONLY at Christmas time!)

*a baby pygmy goat! (or even better, a unicorn!)

*long wavy Lady Godiva hair! (but in a reddish color!)

*front row tickets (and backstage passes!) to a 311 concert!

*an overnight stay (with my man!) in the Temple of the Blue Moon at Treehouse Point!

*to participate in retreats with Jamie Ridler, Flora Bowley, Teesha Moore & Liz Lamourex!

*a trip to Mexico to visit lots of gorgous old cemeteries during Día de los Muertos!

*a huge lovely weeping willow tree in our yard!

*a hot tub & big screen tv & flawless, lightning speed internet connection! (practical stuff, right?!)

*the ability to hear any/all animals speak & communicate with them!

Ok, I should stop now, I'm getting a little "greedy"!
(it's that GIMME! GIMME! FILL MY BAG TO OVERFLOWING WITH CHOCOLATE!
of Halloween coming out in me, lol!)

Thanks for reading-hope you all enjoy this magical day (and night!)

Happy Me-Laurie Z!
