Kickin' It Day 31 -Celebrate!

Today is the final day of the month long Kickin' It Old Skool Blog-A-Thon and we are sharing what we want to CELEBRATE about this month and KIOS!
For the month of December, I suppose what I want to celebrate is that hubby and I again kept the frenzied frantic nonsense that occurs during this time of year pretty non-existent for us. We just "don't do" all the crazy get-caught-up in the consumer chaos that goes on. We celebrate in a more nature based, grateful for the wonder, be present to the joy, celebrate the abundance, connect to the love ways. Thus our month stays "sane" , as we manifest small, simple, intimate, personalized celebratory experiences of these blessings, exactly as we wish, based on our beliefs and values, which are definitely not along the same lines as much of the (U.S) population! We are also bitter-sweetly blessed in the fact that it is just us two (and our 3 furbabies!) together for the holidays, as all of our family lives far away and no one is able or desires adding to the stress by travelling this time of year to spend a short, harried amount of time together!). We also both work from home, so we are more able than many to make the holidays our very own. (plus hubby had the past 14 days off from work!). Basically, we just KISS (Keep It Simple Sweetie!) and listen to our hearts and souls about how we want to celebrate, which makes for a lovely month of sweet memory making, enjoyable events we choose to experience, and lots of cherished quiet time together...and that is something to celebrate in itself!
As for the blog-a-thon, of COURSE I want to celebrate the fact that I actually stuck with this challenge of posting via prompts every day, EVERY DAY! I started my blog 2 years ago and other than a few times, I have mainly posted somewhat sporadically (at best). It is a source of personal frustration for me that I tend to get all yee-haw about ideas and then pppfffttt out within a relatively short period of time. It's one of my least favorite traits about myself and I have come to recognize a pattern of this happening in pretty much all areas and aspects of my life...which, if I choose to ponder a bit deeper, I can suss out the impetus behind such behavior...but this is a day for CELEBRATING, so we won't go there right now, lol! ANYway, big shiny glittery pink star to me for completing all 31 days of posting on my blog. I do know that the prompts helped me immensely, giving me focus and clarity on post topic as well as giving me opportunities to explore memories and really think about what I wanted to share. I think that this format of prompts serves me well, and I plan to utilize some of the many journaling prompts I have collected to inspire and guide me to continue my goal of posting every day! Stay tuned to see how this unfolds for me after today, lol!

Hope you too are celebrating many good things in your life right now!
Thanks for reading!
Happy Me, Laurie.

  1. I've really enjoyed reading your posts through the second half of the blog-a-thon, Laurie, once I got free enough from work to read and comment on other people's posts. I love the picture of the holidays you paint. I also try to stay away from the toxic stupidness of the season and have a more moment-based experience. I wish you all the best for 2014!!!!

  2. Laurie, celebrating with you even though I didn't quite get to it everyday, but it has been sooooo wonderful that even when I was in bed just flat out, I could be on my little tablet and read and read and read everyone's KIOS posts. I'm so glad to have found you all this month. It's frustrating for me, too, not posting consistently, and some of that has to do with being real about my energy levels and all... but it was also very helpful to have the prompts this month when I did have the energy. Decided to hop on the 30 Day Journal project for January to help keep me going... http://www.lisasonora.com/blog/root-30-day-journal-project/ just if you were looking for another source of group blogging kinda stuff! :) Sending big loooooves your way!

  3. Yes, the prompts were so helpful and I was wondering how to keep up that type of motivation without a blog-a-thon. Best wishes for a wonderful, healthy, happy and "bloggy" new year!
